I love colour.

I love the way colour is illuminated when the sun shines through a piece of stained glass.

I will never tire of the magical feeling this gives me.

There is also something about the cutting and breaking of beautiful sheets of stained glass that appeals to the rebel in me.

With regard to my work I wear several different hats.

  • I make traditional lead work commissions for doors and windows.
  • Much of the smaller pieces I make are designed simply to make their owner happy. Handcrafted, decorative items, each piece unique, are given as a token of love, friendship or to mark an important event. In this way my work is in the homes of many, making people smile everyday. These pieces form a series of contemporary, stylized motifs, such as hearts, stars, birds, flowers, often created in a patchwork of colours and textures, and often incorporating fused glass, vintage glass and beads, wire, ribbon and found objects.
  • My more personal work is forever changing direction, exploring traditional leaded, copper foiled and fused skills and mixed media. I take my inspiration from wherever it finds me with the natural world offering me so many starting points. I am very interested in negative space and the shapes and patterns that are created within the solid outlines of natural forms.

I have an Art School background with a degree in Metalwork and Jewellery. I taught Art at Secondary and A level but in recent years I have taught within Adult Education in various community settings. I currently teach both Drawing and Painting classes and courses in Stained Glass.
